Maxwell Powers Puts Life into Death with New Single

unnamed (1)

Maxwell Powers has just unleashed his new single,”Death (It Feels Alright),” the second single from Powers forthcoming 6 Things EP. While he recorded the entire album entirely in the corner of his living room, he collaborated with two veteran Bay Area Engineers/Producers: Mikael Eldridge (Tycho, DJ Shadow) and Sean Beresford (Run DMC, Third Eye Blind). The result is sonically rich tracks showing a diverse journey that is instantly catchy and rewards deeper listening.

Powers says of the track:

“It was inspired by an intense experience with Ayahuasca (an ancient South American medicinal drug). The word Ayahuasca means “Death’s Rope” in ancient Quechua, and some people experience the feeling of death during the ceremony. That is, death in what I would describe as the most glorious way you can imagine.”

Lindsey Harper Unveils “Electricity”

lindseyharper

Singer-songwriter Lindsey Harper has recently released her new single “Electricity,” much to our delight.  No stranger to the music world, Harper has toured internationally with Selena Gomez, and had even sang on Gomez’s acclaimed album When The Sun Goes Down. Lindsey also sang the theme song for the ABC Family hit series HUGE, and she sings with the band PowPow on a song placed on an upcoming Garnier Fructis commercial. On the noteworthy piece “Electricity,” Harper uses the paralyzing jitters we all get in approaching new relationships as metaphor for big life decisions.

Lindsey says of the track:

“I fell for someone awhile back, and I just felt this electricity between us. I wasn’t sure if it was really going to go anywhere—I felt helpless like a silly schoolgirl—but I pursued that electric feeling,” she explains. “When people hear this song, I hope listening to it makes them feel inspired to be vulnerable and take risks.”  The anthemic “Spotlight” is about the bumpy journey we all undertake when pursuing our dreams.  “It’s about being brave with who you are and owning your scars, that’s beautiful.”

Spend “Tonight” with 1403

1403

1403 explores emotions and sounds outside his professional purview. The results are singular, but also invite a wide swath of artful comparisons, including Coldplay, Radiohead, Adele, and Paolo Nutini. “Tonight,” is a romantic slice of singer-songwriter intimacy showcasing 1403’s dreamy vocals. The song’s emotionality is raw but the source of turmoil artfully veiled, is it expressing desperate love or despondency over death? The album’s darkly gorgeous video favors the former interpretation with an elegant and amorous night-themed narrative. Check out the video for “Tonight,” below!
