Sailmaker is the first solo project of Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Rich Sutton. Rich’s distinctive vocals will be recognizable to those familiar with alt-pop band SHIELDS, whose tracks have featured on BBC, as well as being covered by The Guardian, Q Magazine, and MOJO. Sailmaker represents a stylistic departure from his previous band, producing a unique folk baroque sound with an alt-pop inflection.

Sailmaker’s debut EP is set for release in August 2020. The newest track, “Taste For The Sublime,” is about being thankful for the simplest things that can bring the most happiness or contentment, such as appreciating nature or a good friendship.

MILQ is an indie pop band from Edmonton, AB, Canada. Their holistic first statement, the debut tired. EP is officially out now. Displaying the full breadth of MILQ’s work, tired. ranges from upbeat synth-pop songs to ambient, soundscape inspired ballads.

In 2019, MILQ released two singles, “L.U.2.H.” and “Saw You Out Last Night.” The band started 2020 with a sold out headline show at The Aviary on February 7th with their debut EP released on June 26th.

Atay & JAX are a new Nova Scotian hip hop group compiled of Adam “Atay” Taylor of Spryfield and Jaxon “JAX” Booth of Lunenburg. In 2019 the duo began collaborating in the studio to create “Honey” a 9 song LP that served as JAX’s debut album and served up a mellow, alternative hip-hop sound with comedic undertones and small-town stories.
Atay engineered, mixed, mastered, and featured on the record. The intention was never to present as a duo, but when the album launched, the chemistry in their performances was undeniable, and the fans demanded to hear more. Atay & JAX quickly developed a reputation for their gritty, high energy, punk-esque live performances. Footage from these shows created major “FOMO” and on social media. People from all around were showing up in surprising numbers to these campy church hall concerts, whilst screaming the lyrics along with high accuracy. On February 15th 2020 Atay & JAX released their debut album as a duo. To Date ‘Last Night’ has been streamed over 80,000 times.

Venus Furs is the moniker of Montreal’s Paul Kasner, a multi-instrumentalist, writer, and producer. In preceding years the act has taken many forms, supporting the likes of The Horrors and The Twilight Sad as he worked on refining and determining exactly what Venus Furs was meant to be. Now, Kasner is on the verge of releasing Venus Furs, a rigorously crafted set of songs that voyage through sonic and mental terrain.

Kasner’s shoegaze influences can be heard on new single “Paranoia,” offering textured layers and a melodic bass line. The visual richness of Kasner’s lyrics also applies to the way he describes unhealthy mental states, something he has both experienced personally and witnessed in others, and he manages to capture these indefinable feelings with precisely selected imagery. He describes places where “lethargic discontent swells boundless through the room”, he illustrates depression as “colour fading to dust”, and psychic obstacles manifest as trip wires and shards of glass on the floor.

Formed in 2013 by a few high school kids looking to play Rush covers, Pacific Estate has evolved into an up and coming Ontario indie-rock act. Their unique brand of rock and roll features high powered vocals, intricate melodies, and an air tight rhythm section.

Following years of shows across Ontario as both a headliner and in support of larger acts such as; I Mother Earth, Hollerado, Pkew Pkew Pkew, and The Temperance Movement, the band recently settled into Arc Recording Studio to record their debut album with Juno Award winning producer Julius Butty (Alexisonfire, City and Colour, Protest the Hero).

The band’s newest single, “Saturdays,” is a summer party anthem and an ode to good times with good friends.
