Olivia Lunny’s latest track “Hold Me” is the third single that will eventually make up Olivia’s forthcoming To The Ones I Loved EP. Rooted in a palace of passion, “Hold Me” is yet another piece of the puzzle which will be revealed when To The Ones I Loved comes out on August 28th.
Olivia Lunny has been preparing for her breakthrough moment since the release of her self-titled EP in early 2018 that garnered the young songwriter a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Pop Artist of the Year. That success, in turn led to her appearance on season two of CTV’s The Launch, resulting in her winning and recording the top 40 single “I Got You” that has racked up over a million streams across platforms.
Although she began her musical journey playing folk songs, this new era leads Olivia to continuously explore indie-pop and writing post breakout ballads we can all bop our heads to.

A life in music seems to have been destined for Artem Ramsay from the day he was born. Better known as Muhammad Abdul Al Khabyyr, the renowned trombonist and fixture of Quebec’s music scene and beyond for more than 40 years can’t remember a time when music wasn’t prevalent in his life. His professional career has spanned a multitude of genres, from jazz, to rock, pop, and classical.
Ramsay’s new song, “…and all the leaves stood still,” came to life in the wake of death and is completely performed on piano. Sitting on his porch after the loss of someone dear, the air and large trees that enveloped him were still. Suddenly, a golden maple leaf appeared on the ground in front of him. Ramsay understood; all those leaves had stood in honor of that one fallen leaf. Yes, leaves are like people, no different.
Picasso Kat is an Alternative pop rock solo project fronted by Singer, Songwriter / and Producer Phil Vassil. We had the pleasure of catching up with Phil from Picasso Kat as he dives into their latest video you can watch below!
Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?
“Beautiful Day” is a song about contrast. Like when you’re in a beautiful place and you suddenly get this negative thought..Or when you’re in a room full of people and you’re feeling totally alone. These things happen and I wanted to write about it. That’s where my head space was at the time.
What was the inspiration behind this video(visuals, storyline, etc.)?
This video was shot moments before Covid took over the world. In fact- we were social distancing when we were filming. I wanted to create a video that would be fun, creative and easily transported. So instead of real guitars, drums and amps, I used children’s toy instruments.
I also borrowed the “cue card” segment for INXS from the 90’s –who in turn borrowed it from Bob Dillon from the 60’s. We had to do all the filming outside because of Covid.
What was the process of making this video?
I had the vision in making this video. I made or bought all the props and put them into a story board. But I didn’t have anyone to actually shoot the Video.
I had seen a clip online of this interesting stop and go animation style video that I really liked. So I reached out and contacted the Director. Within a few days I heard back and we got on very well over the phone. It felt right- so I hired CJ Farmer to Co-direct and also a close friend of mine, Tony Guma as our mobile camera man. We shot with 2 cameras at 4 different locations.
Mear began as the recording project of singer-songwriter Frances Miller in 2016 with the release of the EP, Flood. Miller first met electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist Greg Harrison while the two were working together at Massey Hall in Toronto. Keen to develop the electronic side of Mear, Miller sent Harrison a song to work on. The result was so in line with her vision for the project that she asked if he would join the band.
The duo’s dreamy and upbeat new single, “Perfect Mess,” was Greg’s first contribution as a songwriter for Mear. The accompanying music video was shot on one of the Canadian National Exhibition’s busiest nights last year – a fact that feels surreal now.
