Celebrate Winter With The 1st Annual Snow Ball Festival

Next weekend, Vail Valley, Colorado will play host to the first ever Snow Ball Festival. The festival, for which pass/ski lift combo packages and music only passes are being sold now, will take place outdoors.  And, while organizers admit it won’t exactly be tropical temperatures outside, they believe the snowflakes, surrounding mountains, and wintery vibes will make for a nice change from standard music festival experiences.

Among the artists stated to appear are Twin Shadow, Miami Horror, Lord Huron, Parisian producer Onra, Gauntlet Hair, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, and The Flaming Lips. For more information on the festival, visit the festival’s website HERE.

MUTE Announces Lineup For Short Circuit Festival At The Roundhouse, London

Photobucket

As part of the annual Short Circuit Electronic Music Festival, Mute Records will curate two days of performances and installation at London’s historic The Roundhouse. The label is pleased to announce the first details of the artists to be showcased on May 13-14, with further festival announcements to follow in the coming weeks.

The two-day event will feature performances and unique collaborations from Mute artists past, present, and future- alongside DJs, talks, workshops, screenings, and installations. A celebration of Mute’s unique and influential work as both label and publisher, the occasion will see all of The Roundhouse’s public spaces open together for the very first time.

Founded by Daniel Miller in 1978, Mute Records has since signed and developed some of the world’s most influential recording artists, including Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yazoo, Goldfrapp, Erasure, Moby, and Richard Hawley – quickly becoming home to a crop of both emerging and steadfast talent.

While maintaining an incredibly eclectic roster, from the earliest days of The Normal, Fad Gadget, and DAF, through to the techno era with artists such as Plastikman/Richie Hawtin, and Speedy J, and to the present day with hybrid electronic artists such as Yeasayer and S.C.U.M, the label has always been one of the foremost champions of electronic music.

Gwyneth and Monko News

Folk duo Gwyneth and Monko will release their debut album next week. The band is influenced heavily by both folk and indie rock, something that is quickly evident on the debut, out on which was just dropped a couple of weeks ago.

Gwyneth and Monko formed in 2009 after Gwyneth had released her solo album Wishbone. She was looking for an accompanying musician when she stumbled onto Monko, a multi-instrumentalist. The two immediately began writing songs together while touring behind the album.

The two plan to hit the road extensively behind their self-titled release. A tour schedule is being worked up and will be out soon.
