Panda Bear is preparing an exclusive release for every music-lover’s favorite holiday, Record Store Day. This year, the holiday falls on April 16th.
Somewhat fortuitously, Panda Bear’s newest album Tomboy, hits stores only four days before, on April 12th.
To celebrate Record Store Day, Panda will be releasing 1,000 limited-edition LP/T-shirt packages. The T-shirt will not be available online and will not be reprinted.
Besides celebrating RSD, Panda Bear recently DJ-ed for NPR’s All Songs Considered. You can check out his 40-minute set right here, and look for Tomboy when it drops on April 12.
On May 31, 2011 My Morning Jacket will release their new album Circuital on ATO Records. To prep for this release the band has been dropping a series of live tracks from performances they did in the fall of last year. Early reviews of TV On The Radio’s eagerly anticipated fourth LP, Nine Types of Light, has started to trickle in, with Spin calling it “Important Music for Important Times.” Now, with the album’s release less than a week away, TV On Radio have decided to stream the album via Rhapsody. Illegal Art released Junk Culture’s album Summer Friends in February, and now, here’s is the video for the song, “Summer Friends”! It’s funny, slightly retro, colorful, just like the song and a good showcase of the one-man band that is Deepak Mantena.
