Just because you can’t understand what’s being said or what you’re reading, doesn’t mean that you can’t understand the feeling and pure creativity behind the sound. Case in point, Norway’s very own Bjørn Torske.
Armed with his sophomore release on Smalltown Supersound, Torske is continuing on his task to bring his
“skranglehouse” genre to the masses. And by skranglehouse, we mean Torske’s Norwegian take on dub step meets house music with everything else thrown in.
The nine-track album is sure to turn any room into an underground disco/dance floor, which just maybe Torske’s ultimate goal.
Torske’s album Kokning is due out Nov. 2 via Smalltown Supersound.
Los-Angeles septet (that’s seven) Shadow Shadow Shade are putting the final touches on their debut album, which will be out October 5th on the group’s own Public Records.
Tom Biller (Karen O, Sean Lennon, Kanye West) produced the album and is now part of the group.
The band has built a rabid following thanks to their explosive live shows and how distinctive their music feels. They draw influences from everything from indie rock to opera. Many songs find the entire group singing together.
To appease you until October, the band has also released a short post-apocalyptic film called the White Horse Trilogy. You can watch it right here for free.
The film is about World War III, and is set in a time when an unknown force has enslaved the human race.
LA-based quartet, Infantree, have been making waves for a few years now, but they just recently released their debut full length.
Entitled Would Work, the 12-track album features the band’s folky sound mastered and honed to perfection. Though they might be one of LA’s best kept music secrets, they certainly don’t plan on staying that way. The band teamed up with AOL’s Spinner.com to stream their entire album. Check it out here.

The Heavy have been blowing up for a while, ever since they played on Late Show with David Letterman. They performed their hit song “How Do You Like Me Now?” and Letterman was so impressed that he asked for an encore for the first time…ever.
Now, a summer of extensive touring with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Heavy are taking their amazing performance back on the road.
This time they will be sharing the spotlight with Mayor Hawthorne and The County on the MAZDA2 fall tour.

Brooklyn-based Crystal Stilts have been working tirelessly since their debut album, Alight Of Night debuted in 2008.
The group has toured Europe and the United States and released the excellent 7″ Love Is A Wave. The entire time, the group has been experimenting with their sound and looking for ways to expand on their gothic blues/punk and ’60s pop inspirations.
Now the band is getting ready to release a follow up EP to the critical darling Alight, and are excited to show people what all their experimentation and hard work were for.
The EP (Shake The Shackles) will be out October 26th. It will just have to tide you over until Crystal Stilts give us a new album, sometime in 2011. You can listen to two songs from the EP right here.
Do you remember how you celebrated the new millennium? No matter how much fun you had that night, I guarantee Girl Talk had more.
For the 4,500 full-capacity crowd at the Congress Theater in Chicago, Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) had a two story, five room house built on stage. Yes, he built a house. On stage.
The house had a kitchen, with a fridge (which had a note on the door) as well as a bathroom (with shower and sink) and two bedrooms.
At first, the house was dimly lit. But as it got closer to midnight, more and more lights began to turn on until the clock struck twelve. Then the kitchen turned into a dance floor while the bathroom had a strobe that flashed any color.
Holy cow. Now he’s released a DVD documentary of the experience. You can see a preview right here.
Girl Talk has been touring relentlessly since the release of Feed The Animals in June of 2008. Now, after almost 240 shows he is planning his next album, which should be around sometime in 2011.
