Towards the end of the recording sessions for their new album, Dye It Blonde, Smith Westerns invited director Ray Concepcion to join them in the studio. Danish outfit Efterklang and director Vincent Moon released An Island, a 50 minute experimental music film, with the modest goal of creating a communal experience between music lovers. The premise is simple for ‘An Island,’ the screening needs a minimum five viewers, free entry, and the host must sign up here. Once the screening has been approved, anyone in the area can request to be invited to the screening. A picture must be taken and sent to Efterklang of the screening party. Grandchildren and O’Death Announce Spring Tour

Grandchildren were fortunate and talented enough to be critically embraced with their first full-length album (gran). The album melded a lot of elements from shoegaze and experimental pop to become something unique.

Building on their wave of good vibrations, the band just announced they will be out on the road this spring, including a batch of new shows with fast-rising O’Death.

Grandchildren might be hopeful that this spring tour goes a little better than their ’08 one, in which members came down with chicken pox, their van was broken into and they travelled through an epic blizzard.

You can hear Grandchildren and O’Death at:

Black Lips Film Modern Art

Last week, Atlanta-based punk rockers Black Lips debuted the video for their new single “Modern Art” on Pitchfork TV. The video, which was directed by occult expert and Kenneth Anger protege Brian Butler, is in a word… strange. I imagine it’s the sort of video that would blow your mind if you smoked before watching it, but without that aid it is just very strange. Anyways, don’t take our word for it, watch the video and let us know what you think the comments section down below.
