Kisses Debut New Track

“I want to write songs that take people out of their everyday lives” says Kisses lead singer Jesse Kivel. Put Kisses debut album Heart Of The Nightlife on the stereo and you’ll know what he means.
Recorded in his garage over the course of a month, Heart Of The Nightlife, manages to sound both happy and maudlin at the same time. “I’ve always been able to capture sadness more easily in my songwriting than euphoria. [The songs] they’re bittersweet.”
Heart Of The Nightlife is set for release on November 16th, 2010. But, Kisses recently made the album’s first single available for free download, and they’re embarking on a tour later this month. As always, the dates are down below.

The Octopus Project @ Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY – 10/8/2010
It’s a shame the Octopus Project isn’t a bigger band. I think a huge reason is in the need to see them live. Every member can play every instrument, and with extreme enthusiasm. All except for the theremin, which I’m told is measurably difficult to play live, and Yvonne Lambert plays it with such angelic grace. I saw the band this past Friday (October 8th), and it was really quite an event. The theremin heavy show was probably one of the best, almost vocal-less, shows I’ve seen. Glow sticks exploded from the audience!
The band played some songs from their back catalog, as well as well as songs from their forthcoming album, Hexadecagon, due to be released October 26.
I predict these guys will see an increase in fan flow like their friends, and one-time album collaborators, Black Moth Super Rainbow (Although I haven’t heard a Octopus Project song in a commercial yet!).
Songs they played that I can find/ remember:
The Adjustor
Music Is Happiness
Truck
I saw the Bright Shinnies
Tuxedo Hat (Almost like 95% sure)
Catalog
If you were there, and can remember any of the other song played, please list!
Metric Lend Score to a Christopher Mills Short Film

Scoring short films with your songs is totally going to replace the music video. It’s not like music videos make it onto television anymore anyway.
Regardless, Metric have provided their track “Collect Call” from Fantasies as the score for the Christopher Mills short film of the same name. The film is a lot like the song actually — there seems to be a lot going on throughout, but at the end it’s difficult to find something memorable to take out of it. The film’s style is definitley unique, and features 2D pallbearers and the constellation version of Emily Haines.

The hippest and coolest French band is taking over New York City’s Madison Square Garden on October 20th, proving to us that immense success can happen to good people too. As the show time approaches, Phoenix are now inviting EVERYONE (who has a Twitter account) to spread the message as well.
By registering HERE, you can re-tweet about the show, which will also mark the MSG debut of Dirty Projectors, and in return, you will get a free download of “Love Like A Sunset Part III” as the band unveiled, in the advent of this concert, that “Love Like A Sunset” is actually a trilogy, from their fourth LP Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
