Toro Y Moi Peak Underneath The Pine

When South Carolina’s Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) signed to Carpark Records in late 2009, his plan was to release two records in 2010. His electronic debut, Causers of This, hit shelves in January of last year. But, his followup was pushed. Entitled Underneath the Pine, the album is set for release on February 22, 2011.

Unlike Causers of Them, Underneath the Pine, features almost entirely live instrumentation. This creates a homespun sound, which is different for Toro Y Moi. Later this month, Toro Y Moi is headed out on tour (dates down below).

Asher Roth and Nottz Team for Free EP

Rapper Asher Roth and producer Nottz released a joint EP, entitled Rawth. The collaboration, which has been in the works for a while, is available for free HERE. Chester French, Rhymefest and Kardinal Offishall also lend their talents to the album, making it a must get.

Down below, you can grab the duo’s current single “Gotta Get Up.” The track is a nice preview of the EP, as it finds Roth at his best. The sample is also pretty sweet.

Jimmy Fallon Welcomes Local Natives

2010 has been a particularly good year for Frenchkiss Records’ Local Natives. Under the Radar Magazine named their album Gorilla Manor the year’s greatest debut and Daytrotter said their music evokes a feeling “that you can only attain if you’re head over heels with the very thought of maximizing all that’s in your heart.”

Local Natives surely hope to use that momentum to propel them forward in 2011, and they’ll get a chance when they play Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on January 4th. Beyond that, the band also has a remix album in the works.
