Kick and the Hug’s Video for their Single “Born Too Late” is an Embrace of Live Music Experience of the Past and Present

The up and coming four-piece indie pop band, Kick and the Hug, grew up with a live music experience that, simply put, is slowly going out of style. The era of taking in the music by feeling it is now gone. While the music listeners and concert goers of today still take in the music, though in a new and different way, what they have that Kick and the Hug didn’t is the internet. Smartphones and social media have changed the landscape of concerts and live music, therefore changing the way music is experienced. The generation of Woodstock attendees and Dead Heads are replaced with the new generation of P!nk and Arianna Grande concerts, which is usually posted about the next day. Kick and the Hug’s most recent single, “Born Too Late” is a pop rock song about seeing a concert through the phone.

The video for “Born Too Late” takes the idea of being born into a generation of music that enjoys a concert through posting about being there on Instagram and turns it on it’s head. The normal thing to do now is to post a photo and/or video of the concert you went to. Members of the Kick and the Hug, who would enjoy music like the Dead Heads, were now experiencing music through their phones. They had changed with the time and realized that they were no longer experiencing music the same way either. Their use of baby dolls in the video is a visualization of the older members of the band both embracing social media and a reminder that they don’t need their phones to have an experience.

“It’s a song about watching shows through your phone…being a camera person instead of just being fully immersed in the show,” shares Doug Murray, lead singer and guitar player of Kick and the Hug. “It’s nice to show everyone on social media that you’re having a great time at this awesome show…but you know what’s better? Actually having the great time, not thinking about a post, or tomorrow or even five minutes into the future. It’s a little preachy, cause I catch myself posting clips all the time, but after releasing this song it’s a pretty good reminder to just get the damn shot, stick the phone in my pocket and connect with what’s going on around me.“

Discovering Your New Favorite Band: Circle The Earth

Circle The Earth is already a favorite new discovery for 2022. The group features a stunning mixture of Rock and Pop elements as they bring their latest release “Diamonds” to center stage…exactly where it belongs.

Consisting of members Khadia Handon (vocals), Kazuki Tokaji (guitar), Michael McBay (bass), Sandro Feliciano (drums) and Sandy Chao Wang (keyboards), Circle The Earth take you on a wild ride.

Khadia’s vocals have a crystal clarity to them, for they way they switch off feels effortless. Lyricism proves to be of the essence of the work, with its observational stance well thought out and executed. Everything here is about the delicacy, the way that the layers interact to create this blissed-out vibe. By incorporating different styles within the sound the piece proves to be completely unpredictable in the best way possible.

The collage-like exploration draws a bit from the laid-back charm of the early aughts. There is a solid usage of playful yet strong lyricism which features elements of an inner monologue-like style.

The groove in the song has a distinct elasticity to them, making sure to confound listener expectations. Lots of warmth helps to tie the piece together, adding upon their already impressive breath of work. Quite easy to get lost in, the patterns are downright beautiful to behold. By holding true to this epic journey, the song evolves in rather stately ways. The song gradually comes to a close in a way that feels soulful.

Circle The Earth is diverse in every which way possible. Founder and bassist Michael McBay had a vision of creating a truly international band. With the help of DC’s Khadia Handon, Japan’s Kazuki Tokaji, Brazil’s Sandro Feliciano and Taiwan’s Sandy Chao Wang, the group proves to be an unstoppable force.

Circle The Earth have been working with acclaimed producers Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, New Radicals), Mikal Blue (One Republic, Colbie Caillat), and songwriters Una Jensen and Sean Gould, which further adds to their impressive repertoire.

“Diamonds” has a delicate balance, one that has a prettiness to it, that revels in the exquisite storytelling of Circle The Earth. Are you ready for more?

Charlie Castell’s New Original Christmas Song is The Joy and Peace We All Need This Christmas

English-born indie pop-rock singer/songwriter, now based in Los Angeles, writes his songs with a deep meaning being it. He fuses the guitar driven styles of artists like Radiohead and Oasis, the acoustics and orchestrations of Damien Rice and Ed Sheeran, with the classical songwriting of Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Burt Bacharach.

Inspired by love and seeing the world around him, his Christmas song, “We’ll Have a Christmas,” has a “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” meets “Last Christmas” meets “Merry Xmas (The War is Over)” vibe to it. “We’ll Have a Christmas” was born from the pandemic, after Charlie noticed all the injustice, hate, and anger the world began to grow, but specifically the United States.

“Over the last four years, I’ve got more and more involved with work to make the US a more loving and tolerant place; to elect leaders who make policies that help people,” shares Charlie. “For those of us working in this space, it’s been so hard to find peace, when so many public figures are just trying to create anger and hate. Add to that a global pandemic, and we’ve lived through maybe the most difficult years of our lives. I wanted a song that brought back the lovely warm feelings of Christmas, and gave people the freedom to relax and find peace again at the end of another very difficult and tragic year. That no matter what was going on, we could come together and find peace at Christmas.”

Listen here:

Charlies hope to spread peace and love throughout this country and the world by way of his music. The pandemic has made everyone’s lives more difficult already. He encourages others to feel joy during this holiday season. Listen to “We’ll Have a Christmas” now.

Working Class Hussys Recent Single “Elaine” Catches Attention

Working Class Hussys have released a brand new single, “Elaine,” which offers up a delicious blend of alternative rock and Americana music.

It is a catchy tune with upbeat guitar chords, and stand out vocals from lead singer Ian Patrick Gentles. “Elaine” is the first song in a while since their last album release “Diesel Tunes” in 2014.

About “Elaine”, Gentles says:

“ “Elaine” was written while revisiting the neighborhood I lived in as a child. Much of it today

seemed neglected and run down, and I was reminiscing about how great it was as a child to be able to roam free about the town with friends all day long – a stark contrast to the children that grow up in today´s protective society.¨

Working Class Hussys can be described as a fusion of sound, from Southern Heartland music, alternative rock and Americana. Some of their influences include Marty Balin, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Burt Bacharach. Comparisons have been made with Weezer, The Beatles and Tom Petty music.

Listen to “Elaine” and you will be transported on a journey of refreshing modern rock.
