Hopewell Announce Live Album

Hopewell have been rocking eardrums for the better part of a decade with their fuzz-pop sound, so it’s a bit odd that they’re just deciding to release their first live album now.

Luckily for us, the live album , Hopewell Live has been split into two volumes. Volume I features the band as they are today, a gigantic creature with two drummers and multiple instrumentalists. The band used recordings from their three-night Truck Festival America performance from earlier this year.

On the contrary, Volume II set to be released early next year, hearkens back to a youthful Hopewell. It features more of the band’s earlier material and was recorded by the band’s original lineup.

Coincidentally, the band has also announced that they’re going on tour with The Dandy Warhols this fall. You can check them out live here.

Crystal Castles To Record New Single With Robert Smith

As if having a sold-out international tour and a critically lauded new album (II) wasn’t enough Crystal Castles have announced that they will be recording a single with The Cure’s frontman and symphonic guru, Robert Smith.

Not In Love will be released in early December on Fiction Records. The single will also feature a couple B-sides. Early acoustic demos of “Celestica” and “Suffocation” will also be included, which is awesome, even though it kind of defeats the purpose of a “single.”

Check out their video for their newest song off of II , “Baptism.”

As of now, Crystal Castles are over in Europe finishing a sold-out tour. They will be stateside soon enough, and if you want to see them you should go here!

Mirrors Release New Video, Album Out Soon

UK electronic group Mirrors have their first full-length coming out very very soon. Titled Lights & Offerings, the band hopes to get it to your ears sometime in February.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, the group has released its first music video from the album.

The track is called “Hide and Seek” and the music video is the stuff of nightmares. Featuring two legless clay figures that reanimate and stare at each other in the flickering glow of a TV screen, it’s disconcerting to say the least.

Just watch the video for yourself, but be careful. These things will haunt you.

Weezer Declares Death To False Metal

Weezer looks to keep this year’s lovefest to fans going this November. The band has already put out a brand new album (Hurley) and announced a deluxe version of another one of their greats (Pinkerton).

Now the band has announced that come Nov 2nd (1st in the UK), Death To False Metal will hit stores with the best rarity album name of all time.

NME quoted frontman Rivers Cuomo as saying that the album features “great songs, great recordings, but for some reason they didn’t make the final cut for a record.” The tracks span the entire duration of the band; you can imagine the wide variety of styles on display.

The album cover is worth buying the CD alone, not including the ten brand new (to us) Weezer tracks. The entire set for what might be the coolest rarity album ever looks like this…

01 Turning Up the Radio
02 I Don’t Want Your Loving
03 Blowin’ My Stack
04 Losing My Mind
05 Everyone
06 I’m a Robot
07 Trampoline
08 Odd Couple
09 Autopilot
10 Un-Break My Heart
