Many Masks Come Alive with “Her Cold Hands”

We all wear many masks; one for each situation in life. Joseph Dubuc-Lavoie, also known as Many Masks, seems to be most comfortable with all of them when he is left alone to create.

His new single, “Her Cold Hands,” is a new track in his oeuvre of heartfelt electronic music, exploring the symbolism of a way to lay the blame of Joseph’s own “crappy decision” on someone else’s cold hands.

The first song he ever created in Ableton Live, “Her Cold Hands” was born in the dead of winter several years ago but later reimagined through refined production.

This electropop track is thoughtful and inquisitive, welcoming listeners to project their own struggles and victories onto the sound of Many Masks.

Finer/Haggart Come to Life with ‘When I’m thinking in your mind’ LP

While Dustin Finer and Patrick Haggart make no claims regarding powers of interstellar awakening, they do boast a visionary take on saxophone and electronics.

Their symbiotic improvisations generate a single sonic output, blurring the lines of cause and effect. Classically trained, Finer’s “alarmingly proficient” (Popdose) contemporary saxophone techniques have drawn comparisons to Colin Stetson and Bendik Giske. Haggart (aka Stereo_IMG) has used his background in cinematic sound design to build a reputation in Montreal’s techno and experimental electronic scenes as a meticulous craftsman. Together the duo unravels dark, stream-of-conscious narratives as Haggart wields a chain of effects hardware to manipulate Finer’s live saxophone.

Two improvisers. One output. Full send.

Their new album is a journey of hypnotic meditations and digital terror. A voyage into our shared imaginations. An escape to unfamiliar worlds.

CODA FACTO Bring Epic Track “Ode to Rose”

Founded by Alexander DeRoo and Jonathan Harley, CODA FACTO are a Hamilton, ON-based duo who fuse melodic Brit-Rock and Americana with modern vocals and lyrical stories. The forthcoming fall 2021 release of CODA FACTO’s debut Jamesville EP follows the previously released “Rock ‘N’ Roll Sounds” and brand new track, “Ode To Rose.”

Recounting a heartbreak, the characters in “Ode To Rose” are experiencing the end of a budding relationship. They reminisce positive experiences, reflect on their decisions and acknowledge the errors of their behaviour. Some experiences must find their conclusion and, in the moment, it may be difficult; however, in time, down the road, things may resolve and come full circle.

shn shn Unveils the Experimental “taking time”

shn shn is a queer Black electronic producer, songwriter, and creator. Her music is an ever changing experience, bending genre as she brings experimental elements into her sound. Her work allows exploration, contemplation, reckoning with duality (and the space in between).

shn shn released her self-produced debut EP in October 2020 called sturctura. She is now following with her upcoming EP, e.strage.d, due out later this year. This album is about being untethered and the full gamut of emotions that encompasses: the strangeness, liberation, and fear of the unknown.

Ahead of the EP, shn shn has shared single “taking time”. The new track mixes ambient electronic music with her lush folksy vocals to create a dense cinematic soundscape.

Tarbox Goes Heavy with “White Lie”

Tony, Simon, Deiz and Jack decided to form Tarbox (FKA Empty Minds) after several years of working on different projects and touring across Canada. The band gives groove and a new flavour to the post-grunge and alternative genres.

Tarbox’s forthcoming new album offers a wide range of intensity and dynamics with a heavy and emotional meaning behind it. Dig into their new single and video for “White Lie” featuring the lyrics “I’ll blame it all on you as if I never made any mistakes, you know I did so much.” The reminative outlook purposely contradicts the uplifting composition.

Waxfeet Break Barriers with “Everything is Everything”

“Everything is Everything” is one of those lo-fi hip-hop, chilled electronica tracks that can completely change your perspective on your life in just one listen.

Duo Damon Danielson and Patrick Brede came together in 2019 to write feel good electronica music that makes people feel positive about the world:

“I wanted to do chill music because I fell in love with it, and it made me happy … I’m not interested in

angst. Let’s put people in a place where they can enjoy where they are and find a happy moment.”

And its this vibe that shins through on the song. “Everything is Everything” is one of these feel good and chilled out tracks you will play on repeat.

Waxfeet’s plan was to release the album first, and then work out what style they would bring to the live stage. However, the pandemic put a halt to such plans and now the duo are working on more tracks, meanwhile figuring out what the venue will be like for their live events.

This track is taken from their second album, which Waxfeet have been working on since early 2021.
