Moments Of Hit Hard with their Latest Single “Threshold”

9-copy-2

With “Threshold,” Portland’s Moments Of come out boldly. It’s their first official single, but it doesn’t feel like a band still figuring out their footing. It sounds like a group that knows exactly what they want to say.

“Threshold” lives in that uneasy space between comfort and collapse, the realization that what once felt safe is now slowly suffocating.

Listen in here:

Ben Wilson’s vocal delivery is heavy with that tension while Jackson Howard and Adam Howarth’s guitars twist and collide in a way that mirrors the push and pull of the lyrics. The verses feel like they are holding something back as they coil tighter and tighter until the chorus cracks everything open.

That’s where the rhythm section really shines. Dan Dunham’s drums thunder underneath, and Kyle Gravel’s bass keeps the whole thing locked to a pulse that is impossible to ignore.

What is striking is how alive the song is. Producer Adam Cichocki lets the edges show and resists the urge to sand everything down. It’s raw but not messy, polished but not sterile – the kind of recording that makes you feel like you are in the room with the band.

There is a late ’90’s / early 2000’s DNA running through it, but it avoids coming off as just another nostalgia trip. Instead “Threshold” feels like a bridge between that era and now.

As far as debuts go, this one is bold. It throws the door open wide and dares you to follow. It’s hard not to wonder just how big Moments Of are about to get.

About Moments Of

Moments Of are an alt emo five piece from Portland, Maine who balance melody and grit with a skill for writing songs that hit straight at the heart.

What began as frontman Jackson Howard’s solo project quickly grew into a full band with the addition of co-vocalist Ben Wilson, guitarist Adam Howarth, bassist Kyle Gravel and drummer Dan Dunham.

Together they have built a sound that pulls from late ’90s and early 2000s emo and pop-punk while pushing it into sharper and more modern territory.

Their debut single “Threshold” marks a definite turning point. It’s unapologetically honest and sets the stage for their forthcoming album At Least You Found a Way to Disappear.

Apollo & The Human Nation’s “B****!” is a Pop-Punk Firebomb That Demands to Be Heard

Apollo-ATHN-Bitch-Cover-FNL

Apollo & The Human Nation’s “Bitch!” is a firebomb of pop-punk angst, a breakup track that spits venom while pulling listeners onto the dance floor.

Written in the raw throes of heartbreak, the track explodes with searing guitar riffs, rapid-fire lyrics, and an unfiltered emotional release that makes Olivia Rodrigo’s GET HIM BACK! feel restrained by comparison.

Listen in here:

What sets Bitch! apart is its paradoxical nature – it’s rage disguised as a pop song. Apollo initially aimed for a snarling punk assault but a surprising catchiness emerged, creating a more intoxicating juxtaposition of fury and groove.

Lyrically, the song is unapologetic. It is packed with F-bombs and raw emotional catharsis. Some might balk at its unfiltered delivery, but Apollo defends the expletives as essential to the song’s visceral punch.

Beyond its breakup-fueled angst, Bitch! also taps into a broader conversation about empowerment.

Apollo cites Jennifer Fitta’s essay on reclaiming the word “bitch” as an unexpected thematic layer, positioning the song as not just a revenge anthem but also a nod to the sexual liberation of modern women. It’s a track that refuses to be boxed in—equal parts personal wound and cultural statement.

It’s definitely volcanic for a pop song! Gotta a lot F-bombs,a lot of venom to it! Some suggested I pull back off the expletives for POP’s sake. I tried that but it ended up losing it’s impact. Let’s face it sometimes only launching an f-bomb can describe an intense feeling of hurt and rage!

I wanted to write a song that was straight up, real, in your face and how people really talk and feel, as if they could have written the song themselves. It’s like the working man’s pop song! It’s my opinion that Rock has become to homogenized. To me my BITCH is Rock music getting pissed off again!”

At its core, Bitch! is an eruption of emotion, a middle finger to both heartbreak and musical conformity.

If pop-punk has felt too polished in recent years, Apollo is here to rough it up again. Love it or hate it, Bitch! is impossible to ignore.

Video: The Gay Blades ‘O Shot’

Sometimes when you hear a new band, they just hit you in the face with their musical power. This is the case for indie duo, The Gay Blades. Made of up two guys, Clark Westfield and Puppy Mills are currently residing in New York City where their music has really exploded. The band, not wanting to fit into a certain genre have labeled their music as ‘Thrash Pop,’  for they claimed they are more of a mixture of indie with a dab of punk and a helping of pop. Try to get that down if you will. Nonetheless, another band that is going to be big in 2009.
