Evolving from rock origins, The Lad Classic pull from the familiar and add their own flavour to create something deeper. Combining influences from soul to pop, gospel to funk, the trio recently completed their forthcoming debut EP with producer Dave Schiffman (The Strumbellas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Adele, Rage Against the Machine). “I don’t care about the way you walk in, or all the boujie places you’ve been.” Their latest offering, “Feelin’ High,” is about meeting someone who instantly lifts you up because of the connection you feel to who they are as a person and how you vibe together. Not because of what they do for a living, or what they wear, or how much money they have.
On air at 102.1 The Edge, Alan Cross regarded them as the next big rock band to come out of Toronto since The Glorious Sons.
Toronto-based songwriter and psychotherapist, Kalila Badali, is sharing a new single from her upcoming project, Panacea. The dreamy and melodic folk of the lead single is an expression of the deep desire which Kalila felt to “help and fix” a good friend of hers who was suffering from mental illness.
Unconsciously, I’ve attached myself to you. Rhizomal, with roots instead of a body.
“Sometimes love makes you lose track of where you begin and another person ends. It can feel really good in a way, deeply connected and supportive, but ultimately it’s not great to lose boundaries. That can lead to all sorts of resentments and confusion,” explains Badali.
Even though it felt like the friendship may have been lost at the time of writing “Panacea,” Badali is grateful to still have this person in her life, just the way they are.
Tara Van is releasing the second single from her upcoming album, Rise (due April 2023), the hopeful reflection on self-love that is “Back In Love.”
Composed after a brutal breakup, “Back In Love” is a “self-soothing anthem” in Van der Kolk’s words, an ode to the hopeful nature of rooting oneself once again.
The melodic, acoustic pop song layers Tara’s harmonies and empowering lyrics to create a peaceful, sonic cocoon.
“Back In Love” reflects on the challenges of being ‘too much’ and the recognition that for oneself and for the right people, one can never be considered ‘too much’ of anything.
For Brooklyn-based modern folk duo emily + shawn, the stuff in life that makes a difference requires heavy lifting, and careful attention to detail. Their music is an authentic reflection of their lives. emily + shawn’s songs are informed by their ethics, their myriad of experiences and interests, and their day to day interactions, which they characterize sweetly as “healthy clashes.”
They just released their new acoustic folk ballad about finding love and connection in the smaller moments that usually get forgotten. It’s a tonal departure from their previous singles, but just as beautiful. It has a strong Mumford and Sons meets The Lumineers with an Ingrid Michaelson undertone.
“’you and i’ is a song we wrote about our life as both a music duo and as a couple,” shares the duo. “Memories of living in New York City are present throughout, and the pensive chord progression gives the listener an element of nostalgia we tried to create lyrically. We produced this with David Baron of The Lumineers and wanted to emulate their raw, stripped-down feeling within the folk-rock genre.”
Lexy Panterra is back once again, following her recent singles “Simple Life” and “Bad Bitch,” with a catchy, feel good track titled “UNDER ME;” now available on all digital streaming platforms. This track takes a smooth pop approach as Panterra showcases her versatility in full, with an EDM and pop influenced beat and a hyper pop hook. This latest single is guaranteed to be in everyone’s “hot girl getting ready” playlist for 2023.
Her recent releases “Simple Life” and “Bad Bitch” both received high praise and garnered over 700,000 streams since their release. Showcasing her diverse sound, Lexy dips her feet into the multi-genre artist conversation by highlighting pop, hip-hop and EDM throughout all her singles. With lyrics like “I can do what I want, Bitch I’ll get it” in “Bad Bitch,” and “Cause I don’t want that simple life, It’s the fine things I like” from “Simple Life,” Lexy proves that she makes music for self-proclaimed “Hot Girls”/”Baddies” and “Under Me” continues to build that message.
Lexy is no stranger to being bold and unapologetically herself through her music and social media presence. This track carries that same carefree vibe fans have come to expect from her and have listeners ready to flex on their ex. Explaining how she wanted to experiment more with her sound after the release of “Simple life,” “UNDER ME” is the most experimental song from the singer at the moment. The track features Lexy’s sultry vocals paired with a deep bass that pivots into R&B and pop intermittently to deliver a unique listening experience. Opening the track with Lexy’s vocals on top of a low keyboard, the song quickly transitions into a vocaloid-esque pre chorus. The beat then switches for the main chorus where the EDM influences in the track really shine through. Revealing a catchy hook, repeating “Why you under me? If you over me?” the track ends out with an epic bass drop that features drop ins of the hook and seamless vocals before closing out with the echo of the track.
With lyrics assured to make any listener feel like a boss, Lexy once again delivers a new anthem perfect for the gyms, clubs and everywhere else.
GRAMMY-nominated dance music icon Audien, popularly known for songs like the Billboard Top 40 hit “Something Better” with Lady Antebellum and his GRAMMY-nominated remix of Bastille’s “Pompeii,” has teamed up with London-based classically trained musician turned electronic producerCodeko to release his first song of 2023, “Antidote.” The uplifting progressive house anthem features Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter-producer JT Roach and is available now on all DSPs and streaming services.
The positive tone of this progressive house record “speaks of being a source of peace in a world of chaos and toxicity” according to JT Roach. The collaboration between Audien, Codeko and JT Roach brings encouraging lyrics and an uplifting beat that is sure to lift listeners spirits and deter any negative energy. JT Roach’s unique voice fills the room with joy and thirst for life as he swings on the captivated melody.
“Antidote is my first record with Ed, [Codeko]. During the PHND tour, we played a lot of shows together and I truly realized how alike we were. We truly have the same ear for things and I think our heart is in the music similarly. JT was the absolute perfect singer for this as well. The song is about staying centered around commitment, being that person for someone you love. In many ways the music I’m making today is that commitment to myself. Staying true to what speaks to me.” – Audien
Known for his production prowess and uplifting melodies, Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Audien has established himself as an icon in the dance community. A staple in the progressive house genre, he garnered the support of industry veterans such as Tiësto, Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren through an extensive discography that includes collaborations with the likes of ARTY, MAX and Echosmith, and official remixes of songs by Coldplay, Halsey, Nile Rodgers, Jess Glynne and Calvin Harris. Following three releases in 2022 as part of his Progressive House Never Died movement, concertgoers can look forward to seeing him perform this year at EDC Mexico, Beyond Wonderland, Miami Music Week, Sunset Music Festival, and more.
“Antidote was written when Audien and I were on his tour together towards the end of last year. Our music taste has always been pretty similar and so when he suggested we write something together, it couldn’t have gone much more smoothly. We worked on it traveling between shows in hotels & airports, and within a few days we were already playing it out live. A few weeks later JT tracked the vocals and it was finished!” – Codeko
UK Native Codeko is a classically trained musician turned electronic producer from London. With over 100 million streams to date, Codeko has delivered timeless music through releases on some of the biggest record labels in dance music and has achieved unique accolades such as SiriusXM’s BPM Breaker of The Year and has even delivered an official Electric Zoo Anthem. Codeko has toured with Gryffin, Audien, Matoma, Two Friends and performed on the stages of Tomorrowland, Electric Zoo, Lost In Dreams, Beyond Wonderland, EDC Orlando, and more.
“The theme of “Antidote” resonates with me as it speaks of being a source of peace in a world of chaos and toxicity, which many of us definitely can relate to. As many people find their peace alongside sports or hobbies, I found mine across my friends & colleagues who always were there when I needed them the most. Having a strong & supportive community in Los Angeles has helped me make it through the hard times and has become my “Antidote” in my life.” –JT Roach
American singer-songwriter-producer JT Roach has been recognized on an international scale as the winner of NBC’s Songland season 1 finale with his song “Somebody To Love” which was placed with One Republic and is the only song that Ryan Tedder has ever cut while not being the writer.
