The Wooden Birds Announce New Album and SXSW Shows

The Wooden Birds will be releasing their new album, Two Matchsticks, on June 7th via Barsuk Records! Frontman Andrew Kenny, who you may know as a former touring member of Broken Social Scene and a founding member of American Analog Set, wrote all the songs, performed all the instruments and recorded everything in a converted bedroom at home. The album features guest appearances by Ben Gibbard and members of Ola Podrida.

The Wooden Birds will be performing these new tracks during shows at Austin’s South By South West festival. If you’re lucky to be there, check the dates below to catch on their sets!

The Watson Twins Announce New EP And Tour

The Watson Twins are showing their admiration to artists like PJ Harvey, The Black Keys, Bill Withers, Sade and more by putting together their own take on their songs. The whole EP was recorded in only a week and encompasses moments from five decades of music, with a special Watson Twins touch. You can download their cover of Turtles’ “You Showed Me” on their website HERE.

The twins will also be taking the new tracks on the road over the next two months when they open for Amos Lee and Alexi Murdoch. Check out the dates below.

Allo Darlin’ Announce US Tour

Allo Darlin’ has only been a proper band since 2009 when founder and frontwoman Elizabeth Morris enlisted Paul Rains, Bill Botting and Michael Collins. All of them are also part of different bands – Elizabeth is in Tender Trap, Paul and Michael in Hexicon, Bill in Moustache of Insanity and also in Darren Hayman and the Secondary Modern – but they will be playing together as Allo Darlin’ to welcome the summer in the latter half of spring across the US to support their self-titled debut which came out last October on Fortuna POP and earned them a 7.9 on Pitchfork! Tape Deck Mountain Premiere New Video And Share New Track

Tape Deck Mountain released their latest EP, Secret Serf, last month and they are sharing the title track with the public! However, that is not the news they are bringing. They have also made a video for their song “It Goes Down” which you can now view below. The video is dark, yet has psychedelic accents and shows a myriad of very different appreciations of the song.

The Strokes Release First Single Off New Album, “Under Cover Of Darkness”

For a very long time it seemed like this album was never coming, but all of a sudden, we are so close to it being released! The Strokes’ newest effort, Angles, will be available on March 22nd via RCA records in the US but the first single off the album, “Under Cover of Darkness,” is streaming on their website HERE and will be available to purchase online through iTunes U.S on February 15th. Check it out to see whether the wait since 2006’s First Impressions Of Earth was worth it!

The Luyas Offer Up New Album Title Track, “Too Beautiful To Work”

The Luyas’ debut album, Too Beautiful To Work, will be out on Dead Oceans on February 22nd. It will feature Owen Pallett as well as Arcade Fire’s Sara Neufeld. The Canadians, however, have already made the LP’s title track available to download over on Pitchfork. “Too Beautiful To Work” sounds deceivingly simple with Jessie Stein’s soft high-pitched voice but the music and lyrics form a never ending whirlwind of layers that make this title track really interesting.
