Dirty Snowman Society Reveals “Say Nothing”

Dirty Snowman Society has just released their latest single “Say Nothing” , and it starts off extremely powerful. This Colorado-based rock band was able to create a fast pace and tense track, that has us on the edge of our seats for more.

With such full, intense instrumentation in the first half of the track, we’re greeted with a familiar set of power chords and exciting drums. However, about 2 minutes into through the track, we get to a different interlude/bridge section that is reminiscent of middle-eastern music. This interlude quickly transitions with a roll of the drums, a classic rock guitar riff, and a solo for the guitarist.

This song is powerful, and the message is clear. We continue to look forward to more of Dirty Snowman Society’s music!

Morillo Combines Drums & Music Production to Create Fresh “Shades of Green” LP

Drumming and music production have always lived in separate worlds of Morillo’s musical
journey. Taking a big step in tethering the two together, Morillo returns to Gravitas Recordings
with his latest album, Shades of Green. During quarantine, Morillo prioritized the ability to
properly record and incorporate acoustic drums into his production from his Los Angeles
studio. From there, he dedicated his energy into tuning and refurbishing his drum kit, acquiring
necessary recording gear, and learning engineering skills to translate it into production. The
result was a fresh aesthetic diverging from strictly electronic sounds, empowering a live and
more human aspect to his music.

Shades of Green is a hypnotic, handmade small-batch record that dives deep into organic soundscapes to move listeners spiritually and physically. “Badmon Sound” plunges into the depths of wicked acoustic territories as sirens apprise their warning. Featuring Evan Hatfield on Sitar, the two whisper deep “Secrets” into the cosmos before Meg Gardner closes the tune with original spoken word poetry. In collaboration with
Canadian bass producer PRZM, “Champion Sound” is a lush excursion through funky reggae territories. Los Angeles singer Talia Bentson soon whisks listeners to an ethereal, yet dark “Dreamland.” Ticking clocks precede a royal dubby coronation in “King of Kings.” Title track “Shades of Green” inhabits a meditative jungle, isolated from the busy metropolis. Featuring Los Angeles producer DanniG, “One$$” delivers fresh soundscapes between dominant bass waves and electrifying drum patterns. Heartfelt and zestful energy in “Rain and Mist” hydrates nature’s spirits, concluding the vibrant album.

Gilli Moon is on “Fire”

Gilli Moon has just released Vol. 1 of her multi-genre album Beautiful Mess. We didn’t want to pick a favorite – but felt compelled to write about the first track “Fire” – a track about the burning desire of lust that every young adult has felt at least once in their lives.

The beat is reminiscent of an early Tove Lo. From the beginning of the song through the chorus, the build up surges – the same way lust builds. The chorus explodes into fireworks. A track like this, in our opinion, could land itself a place on HBO’s Euphoria.

We are totally obsessed with Vol. 1, which means we already know that Vol. 2 is going to blow us out of the water. We can’t wait.

Video Voyageur: 3Qs with PhotoSynthesizers

PhotoSynthesizers are an intriguing outfit that hail from Richmond, Virginia. Tied down by no musical boundaries, they blend together the sounds of hip hop and rock to create a unique and eclectic sound that will be ringing in your ears for days.

Their honest lyricism, storytelling ways and in-your-face instrumentation makes PhotoSynthesizers the complete package..and like no others in the game right now. Their new video which comes in the form of “Ants In the Antennas,” gives a bold first look into the group for many. With our ears and eyes wide open, the video guides us on a brilliant journey; visual, musical and spiritual. We had the opportunity to speak with Maurice and Josh from the group as we dive deeper into their video and the process.

Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?

Ants In The Antennas is an allegory regarding the belief in the ability of the collective to overpower seemingly insurmountable impediments. While there are parallels in the lyrics to our group and our endeavour to penetrate the music industry as the underdogs, it’s also about those in society that can slip through the cracks and become forgotten, even after possibly being revered at one time in their lives. Can that collective consciousness create a signal loud enough to finally be heard?

As for why we chose this song, once we started our quarantine sessions, we rediscovered what it was like to take it back to our beginnings as a group, working as a duo. We started out that way, and when COVID-19 disrupted our routines, we kept ourselves occupied through working with each other remotely. Musically, a lot of material was being laid out right out of the gates. But, we had just put out an LP in December of 2019 and didn’t want to have to turn right around and wait until an entirely new album was completed before we put out new material. Live shows weren’t happening, so we had to stay sharp and move forward. That’s where the idea of releasing a series of singles comprising an album came in. Think of it as a TV series, with episodes creating a season. This season of PhotoSynthesizers is called The World’s Fair. The phrase has several different interpretations, but one in particular is regarding the international exhibitions or expos held throughout the past couple centuries, where countries would congregate and showcase their nation’s achievements. In looking at 2020 and the pandemics we experienced as a nation (COVID and the continued racial injustices culminating), we can’t help but think, what will today’s World be able to show as its greatest achievements moving forward. Ants felt like the right introduction to that topic.

What was the inspiration behind this video(visuals, storyline, etc.)?

During one of our many epic post-recording conversations, we were talking through the lyrics in Ants and how there are a number of military/combat-related lines in it. “Salute, Parachute, Boots, to Wheelchairs Broke” got us going down a path, leading to the issue of veteran homelessnes. 11% of homeless people in our country are veterans (20% of the male homeless population are veterans). Half of them are dealing with serious mental illness. We revere these men and women while they are serving our country, but clearly we are failing at remembering them once they are out of service.

What was the process of making this video?

This was our first venture in producing a video on our own. We have learned to pull off writing, recording, mixing and mastering in-house, so why not add video production to the list. It was a great opportunity to grow, so we welcomed it. Our friends have some land located in a rural part of Virginia, which ended up being a perfect place to shoot most of the video. We also had a gracious family member with a similar rural setting, and we were able to lean on them to provide the setting for grabbing some of the final sequence.

Moonlight Social Share Eclectic Video + Single for”What Do You Want From Me?”

Eclectic duo Moonlight Social are kicking off the New Year with their stellar new single and lyric video for “What Do You Want From Me?”

Another bold and unique song from the group, the song will take you away as it fills the room and your ears with a blissful melody that is placed throughout. With catchy hooks, incredible rhythm and vocals that will blow you away with heavy and relatable lyricism that flows throughout.
The Texas-born, Nashville raised duo is formed by Jeremy Burchard and Jennica Scott, longtime best friends who met as members of The University of Texas Longhorn Band (Burchard as a member of the drum line, Scott as a trumpet player).  The duo cut their teeth on the road, playing hundreds of shows out of their home base of Austin, Texas, and in 2016 they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.

Bringing a thematic, energetic live show, the band has played hundreds of shows across dozens of states and continues to release catchy, thoughtful, genre-bending music.

The group shares: “We wrote this song at one of the lowest points of the year for us, personally. We both tested positive for COVID-19 and it really upended a lot of things. Jennica postponed her wedding; Jeremy lost out on some really important creative opportunities. After about a week, Jeremy finally felt decent enough to hold a guitar again and this riff is what came out. He sent a snippet to Jennica, who was isolating in Texas, and the wheels started turning. By the time she got back to Nashville, we literally couldn’t think about anything besides finishing this song. It really helped us get through a tough time and we’re just so thankful for it. It’s really been fun to truly embrace who we are creatively, and you can clearly hear how much pop punk has influenced us throughout our years.”
Their latest release “The Carrot” saw the light of day last year and has won over the ears of fans and critics alike. With their new single in tow, The Moonlight Social are ready to take over the world. “What Do You Want From Me?” is just the thing to get your weekend started and your head banging.

The Mandevilles Reveal “Lightning”

More than five years after the release of their last album, The Mandevilles are readying their new record. In that time the band experimented and stretched their repertoire, really getting familiar with everyone’s strengths in ways they hadn’t before. The result is an intentional sound where every aspect was thought through. The newest single from the album is “Lightning,” which reflects on the masochistic side of a past relationship. The grungy track features droning guitar hooks and an unorthodox anti-solo.
