Indie darlings Safari Room have just released their new album “Look Me Up When You Get There,” which has become a frequently talked about new record this Summer.

Safari Room is an indie rock band, assembled in Nashville, TN, but born elsewhere. With a keenness on human connection as a founding cornerstone, the band is characterized by ambient soundscapes, intricate rhythms, baritone-led falsetto vocals, crunchy guitars and introspective lyrical content. Touring the U.S. far and wide, Safari Room has established themselves as one of Nashville’s most intriguing and personal rock bands.

Safari Room’s sound has been compared to The National, Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes. All comparisons find them perfectly adjacent to some of the most engrossing and experimental indie rock bands playing today.

Ridgio Sets the Summer Ablaze with New Release

Ridgio Press Photo
The brainchild of artist Derek Towner, Ridgio is set to explore a new world of sound for 2020. His latest release comes in the form of  “We Made It,” which is currently out via all digital platforms now. For Ridgio his passion for music started young which helped to craft and hone his vision we hear today.

Listen in to his latest single “World” via Spotify:
His initial sound came from being with his family recording in his Aunt’s attic at the age of 17. He had a piano, t-pain mic, and an Ipod to record. Fast forward 8 years later, and his sound has developed into its own niche, especially when he goes into a lower register. “I just don’t find a lot of artists nowadays that sound like that. I started music on the fly at 17, so everything you hear currently is freshly developed and raw sonics. I never went to school for anything music wise. I never took any classes so it’s all just a blessing and a gift.”
At 16 Ridgio found himself influenced by Big Sean which gave him the inspiration to pursue a musical path all of his own. Currently Ridgio finds himself diving into artists such as Kendrick Lamar (because of his crazy concepts), J Cole (because of his fluid storytelling), Tupac (because of his passion and storytelling), and Kanye West (because he constantly pushes the boundaries of Hip Hop and entertainment).

Video Voyageur: 3Qs with Big Mother Gig

Screen Shot 2020-08-27 at 4.39.48 PM
Los Angeles-based/Milwaukee-bred Big Mother Gig have been making waves since 2018’s “No More Questions”, while wrapping a West Coast tour opening for Gin Blossoms. The LP featured Dicky Barrett (Mighty Mighty Bosstones) and Britta Phillips (Luna) on vocals. It was praised by Brooklyn Vegan, NPR/The Current, Paste, The Big Takeover, Alternative Press, Under The Radar, No Depression and more. Since reforming in 2016, Big Mother Gig has performed with Gin Blossoms, Soccer Mommy, The Posies, Luna, Peelander-Z , Alvarez Kings, The Yawpers and more. This year sees and hears the band making a big splash in the music world as their earthly sound carries you away. We had the pleasure of speaking with the band for an exclusive Video Voyageur which you’ll find below!
Tell us the story of this song, why did you choose to visualize this song specifically?
Well, we knew we wanted to promote this song with a strong visual as opposed to just the song itself. It feels more like a video song to us.  It’s a bit more melancholy and slower than our usual sound.

What was the inspiration behind this video(visuals, storyline, etc.)?

Found footage. We found some footage from a prior music video shoot and it just seemed to work well with this song. We tacked on some live shots in the beginning and the end and, voila, we had a music video!

What was the process of making this video?

See above 🙂 – no seriously, it was sort of a magic moment where you just realize something works and you go with it. Kind of like the first time you watch “Wizard Of Oz” while listening to Pink Floyd.

Mo Kenney Shares “You Belong to Me”

With her lonesome take on Patsy Cline’s “You Belong To Me,” Mo Kenney hints at her own longing, and asserts the universality of the song; to consider the distance between us and our loved ones, to miss them with all our heart, is as natural as breathing.
Over Kenney’s career, she’s explored numerous facets of herself. “You Belong To Me” is the introduction to a covers collection that will further unmask Kenney’s artistic identities.

Cabin Fever Orchestra Heats Up with New Single

Screen Shot 2020-08-04 at 7.21.29 PM

Cabin Fever Orchestra is the art project of Graeme Cornies that began in 2016. It has been his passion project, taken up at every available opportunity, when not writing for immediate television score deadlines. It has been a means of exploring new musical palette ideas, expanding on orchestration ideas Graeme found while working on other visual media, and it has served to expand his network of talented instrumental collaborators.
Under the Ice” is the first single to be shared off of Imaginary Landscapes, Graeme’s first album release since Patchwork from his former indie rock band Us and Others. The accompanying music video for “Under the Ice” venerates the beauty of nature, evokes curiosity and makes something ordinary feel like something novel.

Motorbike James is the musical brainchild and artist alias of Michael Werbicki, a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer from Edmonton, Canada. Motorbike James’ natural prerogative is to live a life in the moment, for the moment. That emotion comes out in all sides of his life – chasing adrenaline highs, riding motorbikes, exploring the world, and most of all through music.

Motorbike James’ recently released debut single “me Roll,”, brings deep synths, hip hop inspired beats, and a laid-back vocal.

Motorbike James is a stream of consciousness writer, he writes through pure emotion and what he feels in the moment. What comes out the other side is a unique offering of music that is hard to pin under any one genre. Elements of electronic, indie rock, psychedelic, and R&B poke through each song. Motorbike James’ debut single “me Roll,” brings deep synths, hip hop inspired beats, and a laid-back vocal we will all come to know and love.
