Discussing the genesis of “I Got You,” Shanice reveals, “The song materialized in a mere 15-20 minutes. As Mark was crafting the beat, I found myself awash with inspiration. The melody and lyrics flowed effortlessly. It‘s a sonic manifesto of empowerment and self-worth. The song’s creation was “very natural and very quick because the whole song made so much sense from the very beginning.”
“I Got You” is more than just a catchy tune; it’s a rallying cry for self-confidence and the audacity to be your own spotlight. “The message of empowerment and feeling confident without drawing attention to yourself,” Shanice explains.
“Musically, “I Got You” is a genre-blending marvel, straddling the lines between Pop, and Synth Pop. It’s a track that refuses to be boxed in, much like Shanice herself.. At the tender age of 4, she wrote her first song and at 14, Shanice showcased her prodigious talent on the German version of the global television phenomenon, The Voice Kids. Competing against a formidable pool of over 2,000 vocalists, she emerged as the runner-up, signaling her undeniable promise.
Following her high school years, Shanice earned a scholarship to Hurtwood House, an elite performing arts boarding school in Surrey, England. The institution boasts an illustrious alumni network, featuring luminaries such as Emily Blunt and Hans Zimmer. During her tenure at Hurtwood House, Shanice honed her skills in music and performance while continuing to compose and record her original works.
Upon graduation, she furthered her musical education at Leeds Conservatoire, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pop Music. It was here that she crossed paths with Mark Feist, the renowned producer behind industry giants like Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend. Recognizing her exceptional talent, Feist and Hitmakers Entertainment promptly signed her upon her graduation and “I Got You” is released on his LA-based Hitmakers Entertainment label.
