Antony and the Johnsons to Perform At TED

Antony and the Johnsons have announced they will be performing at the prestigious TED Conference in Long Beach on March 1st.

TED is a non-profit that is dedicated to the spread of ideas and the conference aims to bring people from the fields of technology, entertainment and design together to discuss new ideas.

Antony and the Johnsons have a new EP (and video) due out sometime this spring for Secretly Canadian. The record company released Antony and the Johnsons’ latest album Swanlights last October, including a special edition that came inside a 144-page hardcover book that featured a collection of Antony’s paintings, photography and writing.

Like many of his earlier works, Swanlights and the accompanying book were focused on exploring Antony’s connection with the natural world.

Chilly Gonzalez Believes You Can Dance

Chilly Gonzalez had already made quite the name for himself as a producer by earning a Grammy nod for producing Fiest’s album The Reminder, but 2010 showed he was also quite the artist as well.

His album/movie Ivory Tower was a pleasant surprise and now Gonzalez has released a new video from the song “You Can Dance.” The video focuses on one subject very closely…you’ll see what I mean. Check it out right here.

Skrillex EP Debuts At Number One

Skrillex has already had a pretty good 2011 and it’s only a few days old.

Also known as Sonny Moore, Skrillex’s dub-step-meets-glitch EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites made it to number one on the iTunes dance chart the first day it was released. Skrillex partnered with Deadmau5 and his Mau5trap imprint to put the EP out on Beatport.

Furthermore, Skrillex is headed out on a gigantic tour that makes stops at everywhere from Vancouver to Charlotte. If you want to check out what people who have his EP already know (Skrillex’s music is incredibly infectious), you can see him live here:

Dream Diary Join The Wombats At Mercury Lounge

Dream Diary was created seemingly on accident, forming when bass player Jacob Danish Sloan bumped into guitarist Madison Farmer (literally) in New York City. The two mixed up iPods in the shuffle and were amazingly listening to the same album (The Queen is Dead). The two realized that they couldn’t pass up an opportunity like that, and shortly after Dream Diary sprang to life.

With a collection of starry-eyed pop songs, Dream Diary’s debut album You Are The Beat pays homage to The Pastels, The Smiths and Belle & Sebastian.

The band will be showcasing their talents with the esteemed Wombats at the Mercury Lounge in New York on January 19th. If you can’t make it there, you can grab Dream Diary’s debut album when it goes to stores on February 15th.

Electronic Festival To Be Held In Mexico Over Spring Break

Beach Dog Logo

It may seem like a long ways away, but Spring Break will be here soon. If you want a brief reprieve from the joys of winter, why not head down to Mexico?

As if the sun, sand and sea weren’t enough motivation, Beach Dog Presents is looking to entice you musically as well. Beach Dog has announced its inaugural Electric Beach, an event that features Pretty Lights, Wiz Khalifa, Sam Adams, Chiddy Bang, Savoy and the White Panda.

Hosted at the Gran Melia Cancun, Beach Dog is only giving tickets away to this exclusive event through packages that include hotel rooms and access to all three days of the festival. The packages come in three styles: Gold (for $1350 per person), Platinum ($1550) and Diamond ($1750). Each package includes a three night stay in the hotel and you can get more information right here

So if you love electronic music and are feeling the winter blahs, chase them away with images of some of the best bands of the genre playing in one of the swankiest hotels in Mexico. Sounds kinda nice.
