Los-Angeles septet (that’s seven) Shadow Shadow Shade are putting the final touches on their debut album, which will be out October 5th on the group’s own Public Records.
Tom Biller (Karen O, Sean Lennon, Kanye West) produced the album and is now part of the group.
The band has built a rabid following thanks to their explosive live shows and how distinctive their music feels. They draw influences from everything from indie rock to opera. Many songs find the entire group singing together.
To appease you until October, the band has also released a short post-apocalyptic film called the White Horse Trilogy. You can watch it right here for free.
The film is about World War III, and is set in a time when an unknown force has enslaved the human race.
The godfather of DFA is certainly gearing up for the release of his debut solo album. Due out Sept 21, Shit Robot has the new video for the track “Tuff Enuff” ready for your viewing pleasure.
The lead track off From The Cradle To The Rave the “Tuff Enuf” video features a stop-motion animation visual story which shows off the different influences heard on the entire album, capturing the fun feeling of the track.
From The Cradle To The Rave is due out Sept 21 and not a day sooner as fans have been waiting for this album almost 20 years.
Shit Robot will be heading across the pond for a string of dates with LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip, but keep your ears to the ground for the U.S. tour dates.
LA-based quartet, Infantree, have been making waves for a few years now, but they just recently released their debut full length.
Entitled Would Work, the 12-track album features the band’s folky sound mastered and honed to perfection. Though they might be one of LA’s best kept music secrets, they certainly don’t plan on staying that way. The band teamed up with AOL’s Spinner.com to stream their entire album. Check it out here.
And if you don’t feel like going all the way over to another website, check out their track “Speak Up” below and feel free to download it.
Combining fashion and art with music is what Leelou does best, this is accurately exhibited through her new video for “Gasoline.” The video for the first single off Leelou’s forthcoming EP, Kiss. Death. Love. Come. is a spectacular piece of art filmed underwater to depict the idea portrayed in the lyrics “Take this gasoline, drown the fear in me.” Styled by BOOM Style, fashions on Leelou include those from designers House of Harlot, Bordelle, and Hannah Martin amongst others.
The video for “Gasoline” is a piece that stands out proudly in the thick of aesthetically mundane videos that are released so often.

Now, a summer of extensive touring with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Heavy are taking their amazing performance back on the road.
This time they will be sharing the spotlight with Mayor Hawthorne and The County on the MAZDA2 fall tour.

Brooklyn-based Crystal Stilts have been working tirelessly since their debut album, Alight Of Night debuted in 2008.
The group has toured Europe and the United States and released the excellent 7″ Love Is A Wave. The entire time, the group has been experimenting with their sound and looking for ways to expand on their gothic blues/punk and ’60s pop inspirations.
Now the band is getting ready to release a follow up EP to the critical darling Alight, and are excited to show people what all their experimentation and hard work were for.
The EP (Shake The Shackles) will be out October 26th. It will just have to tide you over until Crystal Stilts give us a new album, sometime in 2011. You can listen to two songs from the EP right here.
